This is my double page spread close to completion I have added some more images in addition to the big original image that I have always had in the middle of this page I have

This was my first try adding text to this image however i feel the writing saying liverpool looks slightly tacky and will not be using that mixture of fonts and colors again.  

Mood Board

When I was taking my first photos for my front cover I based mine off a front cover from NME originals 'Madchester' with an image of Ian Brown and behind him is two other performers faded in blue.

This was my first attempt at trying to recreate this front cover i have edited the image further now and will add writing to it of course as it is a front cover i have also now edited the face too because it is too dark so i have made it a lot brighter.

I am currently making my double page spread and think it is going really well I have most of my text in place which the majority is an interview with the bands lead singer Q. When did you first play together?

A. Me and al have always jammed together and been parts of different bands, both separate and together. We started playing together in college about 4 years ago before Damsels was really born last year.

Q. Who plays what, what are your roles?

A. I am lead vocalist and play rhythm guitar, Al plays lead guitar and melts faces, Dave is probably the best drummer in the world, and Will makes the room shake.

Q. How long have you known each other, where/how did you meet?

A. I've known Al for years we met through friends of friends. We clicked straight away and have always understood each other musically. Will and Dave have only recently joined us and have slotted in seamlessly. I've been speaking to Will for a long time convincing him to join Damsels when he got back from uni in Sheffield.

Q. What is your favourite song?

A. My favourite song ever is probably something by Oasis.. Maybe 'Shock Of The Lightning' or Arctic Monkeys' 'When The Sun Goes Down'.. That song really made me pick a guitar up and make the effort to teach myself. My favourite song at the minute is probably something by Blossoms, they are great. I'll say 'Charlemagne'

Q. Who's your favourite band?

A. I have a joint 3 favourite bands that haven't budged for years and probably never will be. Oasis, Arctic Monkeys & Kings Of Leon cannot be touched in my eyes. Those 3 bands along with The Strokes really made me take music seriously. I really love a new band called Sundara Karma at the minute aswell. Listening to alot of them recently.

Q. Who's the founder of the band?

A. I wouldn't say there was a real founder, we have all always wanted to play music and have done so with other bands. As i said, me and Al were both part of another band before Damsels that never really got going. We really stemmed from a mixture of us all coming together and wanting to make something new at the same time... But for my ego's sake I'll say me, I'm the founder. Haha

Q. What's the first single you released?

A. We have currently released 4 rough demo singles over the space of a month, the first being 'Wanderlust'. We released another 3 called 'Pretty Guillotine' 'Barracuda' & 'Strangelove'. We will be back in the studio very soon to release more, possibly more polished singles.

Q. What's your favourite song Damsels have released?

A. I really like all 4 as they all have something different about them. We all have differing opinions on our favourite. My personal favourite to play live is Wanderlust because it has so many different parts and i get a rare solo at the end. My favourite in terms of plugging my headphones in and listening to though has to be Strangelove. I think our producer really nailed the sound we wanted for that song and I probably felt most comfortable singing that, although I always regret being abit lazy and repeating the second verse.

Q. What makes Damsels stand out amongst the other up and coming bands in the city?

A. We like to think we have a raw energy that isn't necessarily seen so much anymore in the world of over-polished songs and staring at feet on stage, not that there's anything wrong with that. We just really enjoy what we are doing at the minute and all 4 of us have really differing music tastes, while still all being inspired by the same core group and bands and artists. We have a slightly heavier guitar driven sound than some other similar indie bands, more so on a couple of songs more than others. We have a very good relationship with many of the other up and coming bands in Liverpool though and we are producing some great bands at the minute that should kick on onto the big stage.

Q. Where was your first ever gig as a band and how did it feel to perform live for the first time?

A. At this moment in time we have only played 2 live shows - one as a two-piece with session artists and our most recent, our first as a full band, which was at The Shipping Forecast in town. Me and Al played our first ever at Studio 2 on Parr Stand it felt amazing getting up on stage. We had been waiting so long for that moment and had so many setbacks that prolonged the wait. I have played in bands before but have never felt quite as happy and comfortable as these first 2 shows. To play our last gig as a stable 4-piece full band was unbelievable and we have been lucky to have so many people come to both shows. We are going to absolutely hammer the gig scene this year and onwards in Liverpool. We want to play as much as possible.

Q. Do you aspire to be like anyone and why?

A. we don't exactly aspire to be like any other band, we very much want our own journey, but of course there's a few bands that we would love to share the same good fortunes as. We just want to make music and have a laugh along the way and see how far that takes us.

Q. What advice would you give to anyone who's wanting to start a band?

A. Take inspiration but don't try to copy anyone else and do it exactly as you feel it should be done. There's no right or wrong way to be in a band. Also beware of people in the industry that don't care about you.

Q. What/where will Damsels be in 5 years time?

A. Hopefully, with abit of luck and hard work we will be playing the festivals that we have been going to as fans for years. Thats the dream. Anything beyond that is a massive bonus, although we believe that we can definitely do that!

Q. Where and when is your next gig and can we expect any new tunes soon?

A. We have a show coming up in December and we are always writing new material. We have so many ideas and will be back in the studio very soon. Our December show is on 06/12/16 at Studio 2 Parr St and we are playing with some excellent touring bands. We are always booking shows though so keep an eye out and come along.
